Problem gambling refers to engagement in betting behaviors that generate significant levels of distress or harm, with more severe problem gambling often meeting criteria for gambling disorder (GD), a formally recognized psychiatric disorder 1, 2. Our results highlight the importance of evidence-based and engaging features in apps designed to help people with problem gambling.
